Job Description
- 6+ years of hands-on experience in Power BI report and dashboard development.
- Expert-level DAX skills – measures, calculated columns, advanced time intelligence, and performance tuning.
- Strong data modeling skills (Star/Snowflake schemas, normalization, relationships, hierarchies).
- Proficient in Power Query (M) for data shaping and transformation.
- Strong SQL skills with experience in querying and optimizing large datasets.
- Experience connecting Power BI to Azure data sources – Data Lake, Synapse, SQL DB, and Data Factory.
- Hands-on experience with Power BI Service, including workspace management, dataset refreshes, and security.
Key Responsibilities
Power BI Development & Visualization
- Design, develop, and deploy interactive Power BI reports and dashboards that meet business and analytical needs.
- Build complex data models in Power BI, integrating multiple data sources (SQL, Azure Synapse, Data Lake, APIs).
- Write and optimize advanced DAX expressions for measures, KPIs, and calculated columns.
- Create dynamic and responsive visualizations, bookmarks, tooltips, drill-throughs, and report-level navigation.
Data Modeling & Architecture
- Design semantic data models (star/snowflake schema) optimized for Power BI performance and usability.
- Collaborate with data engineers and modelers to ensure efficient data pipelines feeding into Power BI datasets.
- Implement Row-Level Security (RLS), data refresh strategies, and performance optimization techniques.
- Leverage Power Query (M Language) for data transformation and cleansing.
Governance, Standards & Automation
- Implement Power BI governance best practices, including version control, workspace management, and usage monitoring.
- Define and maintain data dictionaries, measure templates, and reporting standards for consistent delivery.
- Automate report deployments and refreshes using Power BI Service, Gateways, and Azure DevOps pipelines.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with business users, analysts, and executives to understand key metrics, KPIs, and reporting expectations.
- Translate business requirements into visually appealing and technically efficient dashboards.
- Conduct user training, demos, and handover sessions to ensure adoption and self-service BI maturity.
